According to the data for the seven months of 2009, Ukrainian exports of steel pipes decreased by 29.9 percent to 784,140 mt, its semi-finished steel product exports dropped by 16.8 percent to 6.95 million mt, its exports of flat rolled steel decreased by 39.2 percent to 3.34 million mt, and its exports of long steel dropped by 34.9 percent to 2.7 million mt, all compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
On the other hand, in January-July this year Ukraine registered a 55 percent decrease in its ferroalloy exports year on year to 317,570 mt, a 21.4 percent decline in its pig iron exports to 778,990 mt, and a 15.1 percent decrease in its coke exports to 486,000 mt, all compared to January-July 2008.
According to the data issued by Derzhzovnishinform (DZI), the Ukrainian national research and information center for monitoring international commodity markets, in July this year 42.1 percent of the total volume of Ukrainian steel exports consisted of semi-finished steel products. Meanwhile, 22.9 percent of Ukraine's total steel export volume in July was made up of hot rolled coil, 8.8 percent was rebar, six percent was wire rod, 5.7 percent was pig iron, 2.9 percent was cold rolled coil, with the remaining 11.6 percent consisting of other various products.
