Ukraine issues iron ore import-export data

According to the preliminary data, in the first four months of 2007 Ukrainian iron ore companies recorded a 2.5 percent year on year decrease in iron ore exports, which declined to 6.095 million metric tons.

In particular, during the given period Ukraine increased its iron ore consecrate exports by 0.7 percent to 1.125 million metric tons and its pellets exports by 2.4 percent to 2.86 million metric tons; however, Ukraine's sintering ore exports decreased by 9.8 percent to 2.11 million metric tons.

On the other hand, in the January-April 2007 period, Ukraine increased iron ore imports by 51.1 percent year on year to 933,200 metric tons. In particular, Ukraine decreased iron ore concentrate import by 0.3 percent to 420,000 metric tons, but increased sintering ore imports by 2.11-fold to 414,100 metric tons. In addition, during the given period Ukraine re-activated its imports of pellets, importing 99,100 metric tons.
