At the committee meetings held on April 11 at the SteelOrbis 2011 Spring Conference & 64th IREPAS Meeting in Hong Kong, market players came together to discuss the situation in the current global markets. As at previous conferences, at this year's conference separate committee meetings were held for raw materials, producers and traders, while two sub-committee meetings for rebar and wire rod on the one hand and billet on the other were organized for producers.

Following the committee meetings, IREPAS chairman and Çolakoğlu Metalurji CEO Ugur Dalbeler delivered the opening speech of the SteelOrbis 2011 Spring Conference & 64th IREPAS Meeting.

Mr. Dalbeler indicated that among producers the prevailing view was of a positive outlook for 2011. Pointing out that stock levels are low and that consumption and demand are increasing, Dalbeler said that the growth rates in certain areas of the world will positively impact the steel markets.
