Tyasa to install EPS coil line at mini-mill in Mexico

Mexican long steel producer Talleres y Aceros (Tyasa) has ordered a two-cell EPS coil line to complete its mini-mill facility in Ixtaczoquitlan, in the state of Vera Cruz.

A company providing the equipment to Tyasa said the EPS line will descale hot rolled strips that are up to 1.9 mm thick and 1830 mm wide in coils up to 33,100 kg or 73,000 lbs.

The project is expected to commence in early 2016.

The mini-mill has a Simetal Quantum EAF, which was designed and built by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies. The meltshop is said to have an annual capacity of 1.2 million mt.

According to the company provident the equipment to the Mexican long steel producer, Tyasa will have the first Castrip mill outside of Nucor.

The new EPS line consists of a coil staging/loading system, uncoiler, peeler/breaker, entry crop shear, stitcher, the EPS cells, strip dryer, electrostatic oiler, exit crop shear, tension stand, recoiler as well as an exit coil staging/packaging area.
