Turkish wire rod exports’ value back to pre-crisis levels in April

In April this year, Turkey's wire rod exports achieved a peak volume for the preceding six months and reached their highest levels in value recorded since August 2008.
According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in April this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 140,920 metric tons, climbing by 87.47 percent month on month and up 76.21 percent over April 2009. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $85.87 million, rising by 112 percent compared to the previous month and up 155.56 percent year on year.

In April, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $610/mt, up $70/mt or 12.95 percent from March levels and indicating an increase of $189/mt or 45 percent compared to April 2009.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2010, Turkey's wire rod exports surged by 19.32 percent, amounting to 396,605 metric tons, while the revenue of these exports totaled $218.8 million, up 45 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
