Regarding Turkish steel producers' plans to file an antidumping duty petition against hot rolled coil (HRC) imports from Japan, Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) general secretary Dr. Veysel Yayan has told SteelOrbis that they are currently working on the issue, pointing out that Turkish flat steel producers are concerned over the surge in HRC imports from Japan.

Dr. Yayan noted that, due to the significant increase in imports of the said products, several producers have been forced to halt production or reduce capacity utilization, saying that they are taking precautions against the negative effects of this situation on the Turkish steel industry.

At the 8th SteelOrbis Turkish Steel Market Conference held in Istanbul on November 29 last year, Ugur Dalbeler, CEO of Turkish steelmaker Colakoglu Metalurji, had warned that Turkish steel producers were considering filing an antidumping duty petition against Japanese HRC imports.
