Turkish PPGI imports down 72.3 percent in Q1

In March this year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 2,546 mt, up 2.2 percent compared to February and down by 74 percent year on year, while the revenue from these imports increased by 23.6 percent month on month to $2.88 million and were down 56.6 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
 
In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's PPGI imports decreased by 72.3 percent to 7,250 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $7.18 million, down 59.6 percent, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Italy ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 1,689 metric tons, down 38.38 percent year on year. Italy was followed by Belgium and China, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 1,576 metric tons and 1,280 metric tons respectively.
