Turkish PPGI exports up 57 percent in August

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the January-August period of this year Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) exports amounted to 123,075 mt, decreasing by 22.08 percent, while the revenue from these exports totaled $123.13 million, down 26.39 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Turkey's PPGI exports had totaled 202,109 metric tons in 2013.
 
In August this year, Turkey's PPGI exports increased by 57 percent year on year and by 15.8 percent compared to July, amounting to 21,371 metric tons. The revenue from these exports amounted to $21.9 million, up 19.4 percent month on month and rising up 54.5 percent year on year.
 
Russia was Turkey's leading PPGI export destination in the given periods, with imports of 10,207 mt of PPGI from Turkey in August, up 195 percent year on year, and imports of 50,497 mt of PPGI in the first eight months of this year, down 29.56 percent year on year. In the first eight months, Russia was followed by Azerbaijan and Romania, with Azerbaijan's PPGI imports from Turkey decreasing by 20.09 percent to 11,272 mt, while Romania received 9,257 mt of PPGI from Turkey in this period, down 14.75 percent year on year.
