According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), last year Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) exports amounted to 202,109 mt, increasing by a slight margin of 0.04 percent, while the revenue from these exports rose to $215.88 million, up 2.01 percent, both compared to 2012. Turkey's PPGI exports had totaled 202,032 metric tons in 2012.

In December last year, Turkey's PPGI exports decreased by 3.38 percent year on year to 10,622 metric tons, and were up 35.15 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $11.87 million, up 8.66 percent year on year and increasing by 30.31 percent month on month. Azerbaijan was Turkey's top export destination for PPGI in December last year, receiving 1,991 mt.

In 2013, Turkey's main PPGI export destinations were Russia and Azerbaijan, with PPGI exports to Russia down 23.04 percent to 88,898 mt and exports to Azerbaijan increasing by 70.47 percent to 19,988 mt, both compared to 2012.

The main reason for the stability in Turkey's PPGI exports last year was the weak PPGI demand in importer countries amid high stock levels. In addition, the lower pricing of PPGI in the Indian and Chinese markets put pressure on Turkish producers to soften their prices for export destinations.
