Turkish passenger car output up 18 percent in H1

In June this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 108,101 units, up six percent year on year and  up 6.5 percent compared to May, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the given month, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 65,578 units, up 17 percent, while commercial vehicle production amounted to 42,523 units, down eight percent, both compared to June 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 564,078 units, falling one percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 357,047 units, up 18 percent, while commercial vehicle production stood at 207,031 units, down 22 percent, both year on year.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in the first half of this year was 68 percent.
