Turkish motor vehicle output up two percent in September

In September this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 118,341 units, rising by two percent year on year and up 51.6 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-September period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 1,033,225 units, up six percent year on year.
 
In September alone, passenger car output amounted to 78,439 units, increasing by 18 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 39,902 units, down 20 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first nine months of this year, passenger car output totaled 641,131 units, up 13 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 392,094 units, down four percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 81 percent in September this year, while the rate was 80 percent in the January-September period of the year.
