Turkish motor vehicle output up five percent in May

In May this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 101,498 units, up five percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the given month, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 62,470 units, up 15 percent, while commercial vehicle production amounted to 39,028 units, down nine percent, both compared to May 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 455,980 units, falling two percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 291,469 units, up 18 percent, while commercial vehicle production stood at 164,511 units, down 25 percent, both year on year.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in May this year was 75 percent, up from 73 percent in April.
