According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in May this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 100,309 units, increasing by 3.6 percent month on month but down by four percent from May 2012.
In May of the current year, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 54,157 units, down three percent year on year and up 5.75 percent month on month. In May, small truck production amounted to 36,020 units - down five percent compared to May 2012 and up one percent compared to April this year.
Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 483,645 units, down two percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 247,794 units decreasing by four percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 219,576 units, up four percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in May this year was 77 percent, increasing compared to the 74 percent recorded in April. In the first five months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 74 percent.
