In May this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by four percent year on year to 327,597 metric tons, up 33.4 percent compared to April, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $162.78 million, rising by 0.85 percent month on month and up 93.5 percent year on year.
In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 1.6 million mt, down 5.9 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 50.6 percent to $796.14 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 1,003,425 mt, up 53.17 percent year on year, followed by France which shipped 126,530 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
