Turkish construction turnover index up 15.9 percent in Q2

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released the domestic construction sector indicators for the second quarter of the current year.

The calendar adjusted turnover index in the domestic construction sector in the second quarter of 2013 increased by 15.9 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Accordingly, in the quarter in question, the calendar adjusted production index in Turkey's domestic construction sector increased by 6.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The production index in domestic building construction fell from 127.5 to 124.2, decreasing by 2.6 percent, while the production index in civil engineering rose from 100.6 to 146.2, increasing by 45.3 percent, both compared to the first quarter of 2012. Meanwhile, the seasonal and calendar adjusted production index for the construction sector rose by 2.4 percent in the second quarter of 2013 over the first quarter of 2013.
