Turkey's steel import value down 14.7 percent in January-October

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in October this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 25.7 percent year on year, totaling $1.08 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in fifth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the January-October period, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $12.56 billion, decreasing by 14.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. 
 
In October, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 12th among the products with the highest import value, amounted to $251.3 million, rising by 25.3 percent year on year. In the first ten months of this year, Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel were up 3.2 percent to $2.24 billion compared to the same period of 2014.
