Turkey’s steel export volume down 10.9 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 24.8 percent year on year to 1.27 million mt, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given month, Turkey's steel pipe exports totaled 154,000 mt, down 25.3 percent, while billet exports decreased by 32.2 percent to below 50,000 mt, both year on year. In the same month, Turkey's long steel exports declined by 28 percent to 729,000 mt, while its flat steel exports fell by 15.6 percent to 182,000 mt, both on year-on-year basis. 
 
In the first five months, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 10.9 percent year on year to 7.16 million mt. In the given period, Turkey's billet exports declined by 55.1 percent to 164,000 mt, long steel exports fell by 9.6 percent to 4.49 million mt, flat steel exports declined by 8.2 percent to 928,000 mt, and steel pipe exports increased by 0.4 percent to 794,000 mt, all year-on-year basis.
