Turkey’s billet imports up 40.3 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 6.12 percent year on year to 455,084 metric tons, more than doubling compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $177.5 million, down 21.9 percent year on year and rising by 95.9 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the January-May period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 40.3 percent year on year to 1.84 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $775.67 million, up 9.9 percent year on year.
 
In the January-May period, Turkey imported 751,308 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, 88.26 percent higher year on year, ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 750,212 mt in the given period, down 5.59 percent year on year.
