According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in September Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 124,500 metric tons, increasing by 109.16 percent year on year, and up 20.35 percent over August this year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $60.57 million, down 11.34 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and up 27.93 percent month on month.
In September, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $486.46/mt, up $28.8/mt or 6.3 percent from August levels, but indicating a decrease of $661/mt or 57.61 percent from $1,148/mt in September 2008.
On the other hand, in the January-September period of the current year, Turkey's wire rod exports surged 13.94 percent year on year to 792,200 mt, totalling a value of $362.68 million, down 41.86 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
