In March,
Turkey's steel imports saw a significant increase of 37.3 percent year on year to 1.58 million mt, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). This increase was primarily due to additional costs, such as the increase in raw material costs, and strong competition in the global market.
In the given month,
Turkey's billet imports totaled 260,000 mt, up 252.2 percent, while bloom imports increased by 7.9 percent to 16,000 mt, year on year. In March this year, slab imports totaled 178,000 mt, up 10.6 percent, flat steel imports totaled 775,000 mt, up 32.8 percent, while long steel imports amounted to 131,000 mt, up 25.6 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
