According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in April this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 19 percent year on year, totaling $943.26 million. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in sixth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the January-April period, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $3.94 billion, decreasing by 23.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In April, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 12th among the products with the highest import value, amounted to $257.8 million, increasing by 19.7 percent year on year. In the first four months of this year, Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel were up 28.4 percent to $1.1 billion compared to the same period of 2015.
