Turkey's steel exports to the European Union declined by 4.86 percent in value as compared to the previous month and totaled $173.65 million - up 5.65 percent year on year, according to the preliminary statistics provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB).
In July,
Turkey increased its steel exports to
Romania by 20.51 percent year on year to $28.03 million, while
Turkey's steel exports to
Germany amounted to $24.66 million, surging by 9.31 percent, both compared to June. In the given month, these two countries were followed by the
UK, with
Turkey's steel exports to this country totaling $23.9 million, with a month-on-month decrease of 20.31 percent. However, as compared to July 2009,
Turkey's steel exports to the
UK rose by 63.21 percent in July this year.
Meanwhile, among the other EU destinations,
Turkey's steel exports to
Italy decreased by 39.82 percent in July, amounting to $16.56 million, while its steel exports to the
Netherlands increased by 6.28 percent to $16.06 million and its steel exports to
Spain declined by 1.31 percent to $11.68 million, all on month-on-month basis.
In July,
Turkey's steel exports to the European Union accounted for 17.08 percent of the country's total steel exports, slightly up from 16.97 percent in July 2009.
