Turkey’s steel exports down five percent in 2014

In 2014, Turkey’s steel exports decreased by five percent year on year to 18 million mt, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD). In the given period, Turkey’s steel pipe exports totaled 1.88 million mt, up 4.1 percent, while billet and bloom exports decreased by 63.6 percent to 567,000 mt, both year on year. In the same period, Turkey’s long steel exports fell by 2.5 percent to 11.03 million mt, and flat steel exports increased by 6.4 percent to 2.25 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. 
 
In December alone, Turkey’s steel exports increased by 7.6 percent year on year to 1.77 million mt. In the given month, Turkey’s billet and bloom exports declined by 65.4 percent to 20,000 mt, long steel exports increased by 2.5 percent  to 1.08 million mt, flat steel exports rose by 36.5 percent to 281,000 mt and steel pipe exports increased by 35.7 percent to 208,999 mt, all year-on-year basis.
