According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in July this year Turkey's iron and steel exports totaled $715.15 million in value, increasing by 0.5 percent year on year and down 17.78 percent over the previous month, while exports of articles of iron or steel rose by 5.8 percent compared to July 2009 and were up 2.74 percent month on month, amounting to a value of $417.33 million.
In July, Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.2 billion, increasing by 28 percent year on year and down 11.95 percent over June, while imports of articles of iron or steel rose by 43.1 percent compared to June 2009 and were down 2.37 percent month on month, reaching $181.79 million.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of 2010, the country's iron and steel exports stood at $4.86 billion, while its iron and steel imports amounted to $9.01 billion, increasing by 6.3 percent and up 52.8 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
