According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in April this year Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 31.9 percent to $4.96 billion compared to April 2014. In the first four months of this year, Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 18 percent year on year to $20.19 billion.
In April, Turkey's iron and steel exports ranked sixth among the country's products with the highest export value, totaling $636.8 million, down 2.6 percent from March and decreasing by 25.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked seventh among the products with the highest export value, fell by one percent month on month and was down 9.5 percent year on year, amounting to $499.72 million.
In the first four months of this year, Turkey's iron and steel export value decreased by 24.1 percent to $2.53 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel declined by 10.6 percent to $1.88 million, both year on year.
