Turkey’s September ferrous scrap imports up 53.84 percent over August

According to the customs statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey imported 1.94 million metric tons of ferrous scrap, increasing its imports of the product in question by 53.84 percent compared to August.

In September, Turkey's average ferrous scrap import price was $295/mt, up $20/mt or 7.13 percent compared to August levels.

During the month in question, Turkey's main ferrous scrap source was Europe, with imports of 971,400 metric tons - up 35.77 percent, followed by North America with 519,000 metric tons, increasing by four times, and the CIS with 342,500 mt - up 20.17 percent, all compared to the previous month.
