Turkey’s rebar exports down 6.6 percent in January-February

In February this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 664,865 metric tons, up 12.7 percent compared to January and falling by six percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $278.4 million, increasing by 21 percent compared to February 2016 and up 10.8 percent month on month.

In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's rebar export volume amounted to 1.24 million mt, falling by 6.6 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 20.3 percent to $523 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was the US which received 311,833 metric tons, up 15.8 percent year on year. The US was followed by Yemen with 192,687 metric tons and Israel with 106,638 metric tons.
