In April this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 751,851 mt, down 36.3 percent month on month and rising by 3.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 41.3 percent to $69.5 million compared to the previous month and was up 45 percent year on year.
In the first four months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 3.94 million mt, up 11.6 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 66 percent to $360.6 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 1,606,568 mt, down 11.53 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 654,828 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from South Africa in the given period amounted to 493,622 mt.
