In July this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 532,918 metric tons, decreasing by 18.46 percent compared to June and down 32.62 percent year on year, while the value of these imports amounted to $59.32 million, down 32.23 percent month on month and decreasing by 46.94 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Meanwhile, in the January-July period of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports decreased by 8.71 percent to 4.54 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $622.05 million, down 12.24 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil decreased by 2.33 percent year on year to 1.70 million metric tons. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 988,330 metric tons, up 32.4 percent, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 732,244 metric tons, down 10.27 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in July alone, Turkey's top iron ore source was Brazil with 341,940 metric tons.
