Turkey’s IDC completes continuous casting machine upgrade

Turkish steelmaker Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. (IDC) has announced that it has completed its €11 million investment for upgrading its continuous casting machine.
 
Following the completion of the upgrading works which started in October 2010, the company began testing and commissioning processes.
 
In its statement released in October 2010, IDC indicated that the continuous casting machine, which was able to produce 130 x 130 mm - 140 x 140 mm billet, would be capable of producing 130 x 130 mm -240 x 240 mm and 280 x 220 mm billet and bloom once the upgrading was completed.
