According to the statistics provided by Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB), in December 2011 Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 49,245 metric tons, decreasing by 68.7 percent year on year and down 17.8 percent compared to November. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $36.5 million, falling by 63.45 percent compared to December 2010 and decreasing 14.3 percent from the previous month.
In 2011, Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 1.68 million metric tons, climbing by 82.4 percent compared to 2010. In 2011, Turkey's hot rolled flat steel exports to Italy, which is the largest hot rolled flat steel export destination of Turkey, increased by 241 percent compared to the previous year, constituting 44 percent of the total HR flat steel exports of Turkey in the given period.
On the other hand, in 2011 Turkey's cold rolled flat steel exports stood at 138,919 metric tons, decreasing by 34.2 percent compared to 2010. Italy was Turkey's largest CR flat steel export destination in the period in question, with a volume of 25,780 mt, up 8.6 percent year on year.
