Turkey’s hot rolled flat steel exports surge strongly in January-May

According to the statistics provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in May this year Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 226,631 metric tons, climbing by 260.04 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $170.3 million, rising by 281.81 percent compared to May 2010.
 
On the other hand, in the given month, Turkey's cold rolled flat steel exports stood at 14,218 metric tons, up 31.22 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $13.31 million, increasing by 77.25 percent as compared to May 2010.
 
Meanwhile, the highest increase in exports during the first five months of this year was registered in hot rolled flat steel. Turkey's hot rolled flat steel exports increased by 270.15 percent to 912,528 metric tons, while its cold rolled flat steel exports came to 59,831 metric tons, up just 0.70 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
