According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey’s crude steel output, which decreased by 7.4 percent in 2015, has risen in early 2016 thanks to positive export sales and more balanced input costs.

After the year-on-year increase of 0.8 percent in January, Turkish crude steel output in February this year fell by 8.9 percent month on month and increased by four percent year on year to 2.37 million mt. In the given month, Turkey’s crude steel output by electric arc furnaces declined by 1.9 percent year on year to 1.49 million mt, while crude steel output by integrated plants rose by 14.3 percent year on year to 880,000 mt.

Meanwhile, in the January-February period of the current year Turkey's crude steel production increased by 2.3 percent year on year to 4.96 million metric tons. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces declined by 2.4 percent to 3.17 million metric tons, while production by integrated plants increased by 11.8 percent to 1.79 million metric tons, both year on year.
