According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's cold rolled coil (CRC) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) imports rose 3.8 percent compared to the previous month and were up 18.6 percent year on year, totalled 52,627 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $41.1 million, up 1.7 percent compared to March and up 2.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil and sheet imports amounted to 217,666 metric tons, increasing 16.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil and sheet imports from Russia amounted to 78,760 metric tons, decreasing 5.5 percent compared to January-April 2011 and accounting for approximately 38 percent of the country's total cold rolled coil and sheet imports. Turkey's second biggest source of cold rolled coil and sheet imports in the first four months of the current year was Belgium with 39,358 metric tons, almost triple compared to January-April 2011.
