Turkey’s coking coal imports down 8.5 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports rose by 12.7 percent month on month and by 67.1 percent year on year to 479,924 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports increased by 9.6 percent to $152.10 million compared to the previous month and by 44.0 percent year on year.

In the January-May period of this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports moved down by 8.5 percent to 1.92 million mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $593.32 million, down 22.1 percent, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 1,042,362 mt, while coking coal imports from the US totaled 472,023 mt.
