Turkey’s coking coal imports down 5.1 percent in January-June

In June this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports declined by 43.1 percent month on month and rose by 29.0 percent year on year to 273,122 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports decreased by 55.4 percent to $67.83 million compared to the previous month and by 40.6 percent year on year.

In the January-June period of this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports moved down by 5.1 percent to 2.19 million mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $661.15 million, down 24.5 percent, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 1,157,212 mt, while coking coal imports from the US totaled 550,276 mt.
