Turkey’s Celik Halat ve Tel Sanayii increases output by 15 percent in Q1

In the first quarter of 2011, Turkish steel wire and rope producer Celik Halat ve Tel Sanayii A.S. produced 13,476 metric tons of steel products, 14.74 percent higher compared to the company's Q1 2010 output.
 
In the given period, the producer's steel rope output totaled 2,172 metric tons, rising by 10.2 percent, its galvanized wire production amounted to 174 metric tons, down 29 percent, spring wire output soared by 43.66 percent to 1,609 metric tons, its bead wire production increased by 24.38 percent to 3,158 metric tons, the company's single strand rope output totaled 357 metric tons up from only 10 metric tons, while its pre-stressed wire strand production totaled 6,005 metric tons, increasing by 2.46 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
 
In Q1 2011, product sales of Celik Halat ve Tel Sanayi improved by 14.9 percent year on year to 13,511 metric tons. According to the company's statement, exports accounted for 35 percent of the company's total sales in the given period.
 
In the first quarter of this year, Celik Halat ve Tel Sanayi registered a loss of TRY 936,553 ($616,000), compared to a profit of TRY 1.28 million in the corresponding period of 2010.
