In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 36.5 percent year on year to 309,283 mt, down 46.3 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $91.3 million, remaining almost unchanged year on year and falling by 43.8 percent compared to the previous month.
In the January-April period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 23.6 percent year on year to 1.72 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $494.7 million, down 17.3 percent year on year.
In the first four months of this year, Turkey imported 563,893 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 3.92percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of China which supplied 563,761 mt in the given period.
