Turkey’s billet exports up 11.9 percent in H1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's steel billet and bloom exports amounted to 358,100 metric tons, increasing 2.5 times compared to the same month of 2011 and up 21.7 percent compared to May this year. Meanwhile, in June the revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports totaled $216.9 million, increasing 19.2 percent compared to May this year and up 167 percent on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first half of 2012 Turkey's steel billet exports increased by 11.9 percent compared to the first half of 2011, to 1.3 million metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $801 million, up by 11.6 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.

In the first half of this year, Turkey increased its steel billet exports to Saudi Arabia by 161 percent, while the country's steel billet exports to Iran and to the UAE decreased by 65.9 percent and 78.3 percent respectively, all compared to the first half of 2011.
