According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's steel billet and bloom exports amounted to 234,740 metric tons, returning to July's level, following the highest historical level recorded in August. In September, the country's steel billet and bloom exports decreased by 53.6 percent compared to the previous month, while they rose by 41.8 percent on year-on-year basis.
The revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports in September totaled $145 million, decreasing 51.2 percent compared to August this year and up 32.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
In the third quarter of 2012, Turkey's steel billet exports increased by 14.6 percent compared to the previous quarter to 966,912 metric tons, and were up 47.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the third quarter this year, Turkey's steel billet exports to Saudi Arabia, which accounted for 49.5 percent of Turkey's total steel exports in January-September this year, decreased by 50.6 percent quarter on quarter, amounting to 271,552 mt. The country's steel billet exports to Iran increased significantly in the third quarter of 2012 both compared to the previous quarter and on year-on-year basis, amounting to 400,190 mt.
