Truckers agree to end strike at Pusan

The strike at the country's biggest and the world's third largest port Pusan, is now over. South Korean truckers threatening to paralyse cargo flow from the port have now agreed to end the seven-day strike. The exact date for the truckers to go back to work has not yet been clarified. The agreement ending the strike includes the government promises to cut income taxes for truck drivers, subsidize their fuel purchases and other benefits such as lower highway tolls. Pusan port handles 80% of the country's export shipments. 8 million 6-meter containers are handled at the port per year.
