Tianjin steel industry indicates steady growth in 2010

At the latest meeting of the Tianjin Iron and Steel Association in China, association president Luo Kaisheng summarized the performance of the local steel industry in Tianjin in 2010.
 
Mr. Luo stated that the steel industry in Tianjin followed a stable growth trend in 2010. In the year in question, overall industrial production in Tianjin totaled a value of RMB 281 billion ($42.7 billion), up 17.45 percent year on year, with the steel industry accounting for 16.53 percent of this figure. Meanwhile, in Tianjin in 2010, pig iron output reached 19.26 million mt, rising by 9.24 percent, crude steel output amounted to 21.62 million mt, up 1.78 percent, and finished steel output totaled 44.84 million mt, up 9.88 percent - all compared with the respective 2009 output volumes.
