ThyssenKrupp acquires Stuttgart-based steel processing specialist

German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp has announced that ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center GmbH has acquired Stuttgart-based steel processing specialist Herzog Coilex and integrated it into its organization effective as of May 1.

ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center increased its shareholding in Herzog Coilex from 74.9 percent to 100 percent in October 2014, thereby integrating one of the leading steel service center companies in southern Germany. The new Coilex Stuttgart center processes several hundred thousand metric tons of cold rolled, hot rolled and coated slit strip and blanks per year for customers in the automotive, furniture, fittings and white goods industries.

The ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center Group process around 1.5 million mt of flat steel into slit strip and blanks annually. The company has a European-wide Service Center network with ten branches in five countries.
