According to Hebei Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, as of June 3 iron ore imports via the third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Ore Terminal Project in China's Hebei Province totaled 1.09 million mt with a value of RMB 160 million ($25.32 million) since the third phase project was put into operation at the end of April this year.

At present, testing of equipment within the scope of the third phase is still being carried out. Overall throughput of iron ore in the third phase project is expected to total 3 million mt per month.

The third phase of Tangshan Port Caofeidian Port Area Ore Terminal Project, built by Hebei-based Chinese state-owned Tangshan Caofeidian Port Co, consists of two berths designed to accommodate 400,000 dwt bulk cargo vessels. The terminal is 790 meters in length. Total investment is estimated at RMB 4.08 billion ($650 million). Upon completion of the third phase project, the iron ore handling capacity of Caofeidian Port Area is expected to reach 100 million mt.
