Tenaris announced Wednesday that it will temporarily suspend operations at its threading facility in Westwego, Louisiana, resulting in the layoff of approximately 90 employees, effective June 5, 2015. The facility, which threads seamless pipes and accessories, will continue to operate until its temporary closure date.

According to a statement from the company, factors that led Tenaris to make these adjustments include the ongoing decline in drilling activity driven by the low price of oil. The number of active rigs continue to decline, currently down 900 rigs in North America since the onset of the market downturn.
