Tata Steel to temporarily halt tinplate production in Trostre plant

Wednesday, 14 September 2011 13:41:17 (GMT+3)   |
India-headquartered global steelmaker Tata Steel will halt tinplate production at its Trostre plant in Llanelli, Wales, UK, in the last week of October to match capacity with demand, since the demand for tin cans from the food and beverage industry is low, according to recent media reports.

The halt in production will result in a loss of 9,000 mt of tinplate output. However, the 700 employees of the plant will not lose their jobs, but will continue working for training and maintenance purposes.
