Tata Steel sees improved sales in FY 2011-12

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced its sales results for the financial year 2011-12 and the fourth quarter ending March 31. The total domestic sales of Tata Steel for the full financial year increased 3.4 percent year on year to 6.63 million mt. In the fourth quarter, the company's total sales amounted to 1.76 million mt, up 3.3 percent year on year.

In the given financial year, sales of flat steel products increased by six percent and long product sales saw a slight growth of 0.6 percent, both compared to the previous year.

Tata Steel's crude steel output for the full year increased 3.9 percent year on year to 7.1 million mt, while in the fourth quarter its crude steel output amounted to 1.82 million mt, up 2.6 percent year on year.
