Taiwan’s ferrous scrap imports up 26 percent

According to provisional custom data, Taiwan imported 3.39 million mt of ferrous scrap in 2018, up 26 percent from 2.69 million mt in 2017. Taiwan imported 3.08 million mt of ferrous scrap in the January to November 2018 period and 0.31 million mt in December.

Per source country, Taiwan imported 1.61 million mt (47 percent) from the US, 0.40 million mt (12 percent) from Japan, 0.18 million mt (5 percent) from Hong Kong, 0.16 million mt (5 percent) from Australia, 0.15 million mt (4 percent) from Canada, 0.14 million mt (4 percent) from Dominican Republic, and 0.75 (22 percent) from other destinations.
