Taiwan’s CSC increases steel production by 57.93 percent in March

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in March this year its steel production volume rose by 13.84 percent month on month, reaching 840,618 metric tons, while the year-on-year increase was 57.93 percent.

In March, CSC's sales volume amounted to 846,102 metric tons, increasing by 19.66 percent as compared to February and up 44.23 percent year on year.

In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 18.81 billion ($599.58 million), increasing by 24.69 percent month on month and up 53.59 percent year on year, while its income before tax totaled NTD 5.2 billion ($165.75 million).
 
On the other hand, in the first quarter of this year, CSC's total production came to 2.42 million metric tons, up 57.99 percent, its sales volume amounted to 2.43 million metric tons, up 46.09 percent, while its sales revenue stood at NTD 52.08 billion ($1.66 billion), up 45.23 percent, all compared to Q1 2009. The company's profit before tax totaled NTD 13.13 billion ($418.53 million) in the given period.
