Swiss plantmaker SMS Concast AG has announced that, jointly with SMS Concast America Inc. Pittsburgh, Pa., it will supply a vertical bloom casting facility for Canton, Ohio-based The Timken Company's Faircrest Steel Plant in Canton.

SMS Concast will supply all the main equipment for the vertical bloom casting facility to produce the highest quality cast blooms.

The investment of $225 million in the Faircrest facility to increase productivity and expand the product range and capacity is scheduled to be completed in 2014. The new caster, along with a new ladle refiner, is expected to increase the Faircrest operation's capacity by 25 percent and enable production of a broader range of large diameter bars.
